Main objective of the internship:
To provide students the opportunity to test their interest in a particular career before permanent commitments are made. Develop skills in the application of theory to practical work situations in helping them to adjust from college to full-time employment. The Intern will gain professional experience of working in a true production programming environment.
Expectations of the Intern:
Intern will learn good work habits, such as punctuality, working in a team environment, effective time management, prioritizing work, and following supervisors instructions. The intern is expected to learn advanced programming techniques within Visual Studio.Net and MS SQL Server 2005. Visual Studio.Net methodologies include but are not limited to AJAX, object oriented programming, Visual SourceSafe and developing using an N-Tier architecture. MS SQL 2005 advanced functionality includes but is not limited to advanced views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Reporting Services.
Training Available:
The intern will be expected to gain and develop their technical expertise on the above technologies primarily via self-study. Self-study resources include existing software manuals and documentation, public Internet resources, and supplemental books. The intern will also be provided access to self-study training materials currently available to IT Dept staff. Additional mentoring/training from other IT staff members will be provided where possible. The trainee will participate in regular IT meetings, project meetings and other division related events.
