ACM CS Club Meeting

The ACM Association for Computing Machinery Club is being reborn! Jeff Miller, faculty member in computer systems engineering, is the faculty advisor.

The kickoff meeting is Tuesday, November 4, 11:30am-12:30pm, in ENGR 110.

Membership is open to all students. The ACM club is the only student organization concerned with all aspects of computers, hardware and software.

Highlights: Discuss what ACM is and what we will do for the next year
Nominate officers
Meet fellow students interested in computers
Enjoy free Moose's Tooth Pizza and soda

More information on ACM

Had I known this forum existed, I would've announce our (ACM's) last meeting *before* it happened. That having been said, there is still a purpose to recapping it here.

We had the USAF's bomb disposal squad on campus to demonstrate their robotic units, but they gave us more than just that. Several of those that showed up to the meeting had the incredible opportunity to control the bots themselves, and even remotely pilot one from the deployment vehicle (via streaming video from on board cameras). Check out the pictures for yourself: http://acm.forumup.org/ (under the forum News and Announcements).

I'm going to post an independent topic here at the Computer Club's forum about our summer opportunity for a tour of EOD's (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) facility on base. If you're interested, you should find all the information there that you'll need to participate.

next meeting?

Does anyone know when the next meeting is? I missed the last one.

Thanks Jeremiah

Mayhap I should have said something earlier...

I've got class during the entirety of this meeting time. Hopefully I can make other meetings.

ACM Membership

School of Engineering is paying for the membership for the first year. I am not sure it is for engineering major or CS major or both but talk to Jeffery Miller if you are interested in getting membership.
