Post job opportunities here

There seems to be a fair bit of discussion regarding job opportunities. This forum seems a better place to post them than the antiquated system on the job-posting system linked from the main CS page.

Kicking off with a !bang

Hello everybody.

I have burned myself out.

I have been a student in the CS program since 2002, and in that time I have had to withdraw from more classes then I care to remember. No student should have signed up for and withdrawn from Trig 7 times... Nevermind the few CS courses.

It isn't a lack of understanding the material. I love this stuff... I have been burning the candle brightly, at both ends for too long. I have next to no desire to finish. More then full-time work, and full-time school... I am not enjoying my job anymore...

Sigh...

Meeting Friday March 30th?

Do we want to meet on Friday March 30th again, to get things going?

Job Opportunities at Microsoft

I have got an e-mail from UAA Career Services Center about job opportunities at Microsoft. Name of the gentleman is Jaime Dodds and he is a Microsoft College Recruiter. Career Service Center is located at Rasmuson Hall 122 (Or BEB). Details can be found on attachment.

Good Luck!

Two day job opportunity

Addison Wesley is looking for a student to man their booth at the IEEE INFOCOMM conference at the Hilton in Anchorage. It would entail some labor in packing/unpacking books, setting up the booth, and sitting there to take book requests from professors. The dates are Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8-9. This is after the semester is over, so classes should not be a problem.

They are willing to pay about $150/day which would require about 7 hours of work.

If you are interested please send an email to kenrick@uaa.alaska.edu.

UPDATE 4/2/07: This opportunity has been filled.

CS Club Meeting

Sunil was thinking of canceling a meeting this Friday, since not many people have expressed interest. I could make a 4:00 meeting though, although I tend to agree that not many people will come with Spring Break coming up.

If anyone wants to have a small meeting Friday afternoon let me know and we can go ahead and see who shows.

Comuter Science enrollement going down

Recently computer science enrollment is going down especially in United Kingdom, Australia, and some European countries by 10 - 20%. What might be the potential cause of lower rate of enrollment? What can be done to improve the attraction of new generation in IT profession.
