The US Geological Survey is seeking a Java programmer with GUI development experience. We have a sizable existing Java codebase that is widely deployed on systems throughout the USGS Volcano and Earthquake Hazards Programs (and elsewhere). We're looking to develop a new application that will leverage the capabilities of the existing codebase.
A temporary job is available for RAM installs on a LOT of computers between November 12-January 10. This would be a 7 hr/day , 5 days/week job for approx 5 weeks.
Previous experience with RAM installs on MAC’s & PC’s and computer skills are required.
You must be able to commit to a 5 week schedule between November 12-January 8, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. You must also be able to pass a background check.
Compensation is $15/hr with completion bonuses daily & weekly. A 25% bonus is offered to those that complete the 5 week contract in full.

The ACM Association for Computing Machinery Club is being reborn! Jeff Miller, faculty member in computer systems engineering, is the faculty advisor.
The kickoff meeting is Tuesday, November 4, 11:30am-12:30pm, in ENGR 110.
Membership is open to all students. The ACM club is the only student organization concerned with all aspects of computers, hardware and software.

There has been some interest from the CSE program to revive the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) CS Club. This would give us some benefits like access to distinguished lecturers, programming contests, etc. The idea was also suggested of merging the CS Club with CSE to perhaps form a new club under the auspices of the ACM.
Please post your comments and if there is interest we should probably convene a meeting to discuss.
