Updated OQO ScrollMaster v0.804/24/2008 - 00:32 Etc/GMT I've updated my program to automatically enable/disable the touch scrollers on the OQO Model 02/e2. The original program was described here: The program was created so a right-handed user can ink with the pen without accidentally hitting the touch scrollers with your palm. The program also allows you to remap the touch scrollers to keyboard commands such as Page Up, Page Down, arrow keys, or left and right mouse click. This may be useful for some applications such as e-book readers where you want to scroll the screen by a known amount (e.g. one Page Up/Page Down) instead of the variable amount based on the swipe speed with the default touch scroller. The mapping of the bottom touch scroller to left/right click let you sort of use the mouse with one hand, although it's a little awkward to hold without the left side propped up somehow. This new version is pretty much the same as the old one as far as the GUI is concerned. A screenshot follows: There are some little things, like an option to disable the whole program and the above mentioned mouse click option. However, the main difference is internal - the program was re-architected (with some help from nivenh) to use a DLL which makes the entire program much more efficient. Gone is the 5-6% of CPU overhead every time you move your mouse around! Here are links to the program: Just the executable: http://www.math.uaa.alaska.edu/~afkjm/files/ScrollMaster/ScrollMasterExe... A setup program that installs icons, puts the program in your startup folder: http://www.math.uaa.alaska.edu/~afkjm/files/ScrollMaster/ScrollMasterSet... The source code in C#: http://www.math.uaa.alaska.edu/~afkjm/files/ScrollMaster/ScrollMasterSrc... If the program installs but doesn't seem to do anything, try installing this Microsoft redistributable update for C++: The program is free. I hope to add some program-specific settings and better swipe acceleration control in the future. |

This app would be great if I could get it to run -- but on startup, I get the generic Windows "has encountred a problem and needs to close" error. I have installed the runtimes and have fully patched and updated WinXP. Any suggestions / additional info which would help you help me resolve this? Thanks for writing such a cool tool!
Hmm, not sure why it doesn't
Hmm, not sure why it doesn't work... maybe it's one of the OQO's without the active digitizer?
