Adding Accounts

Accounts are added from the Ledger view. To add a new account, click the button labeled "Add Account". This opens a dialog box for entering information about the new account. After entering all required information, click "Ok" to save the new account in the ledger, or click "Cancel" at any time to cancel the creation of the new account. Here is a list of all information that an account has:

Number:
An account number is an optional identifier for the account. If used, it must uniquely identify the account. An account number is not restricted to decimal digits; letters and symbols are allowed, for example, A12345-S01 is a valid account number.
Type:
Asset, Liability, Expense, Revenue, or a user-defined type.
Name:
The required identifier for the account.
Reference Date:
Any date that gives a convenient point of reference for the account; for example, this could be the date the account was opened, or a date that its balance was known.
Reference Balance:
The account's balance at the reference date.
Comments:
Any comments about the account.

Editing Accounts

Accounts are edited from the Ledger view. To edit an account, select the account and click the button labeled "Edit Account". This opens a dialog box for editing information about the account. After making the desired changes, click "Ok" to update the account in the ledger, or click "Cancel" at any time to cancel any changes to the account. Adding Account Types

At this time, new account types can only be added by editing the program's configuration file. For example: account_types=Equity, credit will add "Equity" as an account type.
